Chief Accountant

Сompany is a rapidly scaling FinTech company providing global payment solutions for online businesses. We are expanding our finance function and looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to lead our accounting operations in Warsaw. This role requires a strong command of Polish accounting standards and hands-on experience managing full-cycle accounting in a dynamic international environment.

Responsibilities

1. Full-Cycle Accounting & Financial Control

• Oversee and execute all accounting operations 
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and internal analysis for executive leadership.
• Maintain accurate accounting records, general ledgers, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
• Ensure proper classification and treatment of transactions for entities operating in regulated high-risk/FinTech sectors.

2. Payroll & HR-Administrative Support

• Oversee payroll calculations, benefits, deductions, and employment-related payments.
• Coordinate with HR regarding employment contracts, onboarding documentation, and personnel files.
• Ensure compliance with local labor law and reporting requirements.

3. Cash Flow Management & Controls

• Maintain cash-flow forecasts, monitor liquidity, and prepare financial projections.
• Ensure proper documentation and control over incoming/outgoing payments.
• Implement and maintain internal financial controls and risk-management procedures.
• Support treasury operations and cross-border financial flows in coordination with Finance leadership.

4. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support

• Work closely with Finance, Compliance, Legal, and Operations teams to support business processes and audits.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CFO and executive leadership.
• Support external audit preparation, documentation, and communication.
• Assist with financial aspects of onboarding new providers, partners, or merchants when needed.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in accounting, including at least 2 years in a senior or chief accountant role.
• Strong knowledge of Polish accounting standards (Polish GAAP) and tax regulations.
• Experience in FinTech, payments, PSP or international B2B environments is a strong advantage.
• University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Advanced proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a high level of ownership.
• Fluent Russian and English (written and spoken).
• Ability to work on-site in Warsaw (full-time).
